Who you are:
You are a natural problem solver who is highly organized, detail oriented and resourceful that would like to be a part of a nimble but fast-growing team. As a Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for executing the technical development and sourcing of packaging in order to meet business initiatives. Working closely with Product Development and Creative Marketing you will work on both new products as well as maintenance and updates to current packaging that align with our sustainability initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop packaging and finished goods specifications
- Work with Quality to define specifications, design criteria and defect ranges to ensure optimal process flow from manufacture of components through filling and assembly
- Drive packaging and corporate sustainability initiatives
- Provide technical guidance for packaging, materials and technologies
- Manage new tooling development and part qualification
- Manage new packaging development projects from concept to launch
- Qualify packaging for filling during line trials and first production
- Develop Secondary and Tertiary packaging with the purpose of optimizing logistics
- Support Product Development and Operations teams in sourcing primary and secondary components and materials
- Utilize Statistical Software to drive engineering decisions
- Build strong relationships with external partners
- Provide technical support to the quality team as part of their corrective and preventive action process
Qualifications/Experience:
- B.S. Degree in Packaging/Engineering, or other relevant field with 2-4 years practical experience, including Co-ops or internships, in the personal care or cosmetic packaging field
- Technical competency in analysis of geometric objects in 2- and 3-dimensions including understanding of fill capacity, tolerances, fit and finish of packaging components and subcomponents
- Technical competency related to packaging filling lines and Packaging QA
- Excellent project management and multi-tasking skills
- Proficiency in MacOs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Google Sheets and Docs
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus
- Experience using 3D CAD software is plus (Solidworks)
- Experience with 3D printing and Rapid Prototyping
- Experience using Statistical Analytical tools in manufacturing
- Experience using palletization optimization software
- Experience in Tolerance and Stack Analysis of new product and package designs
- Ability to work independently, initiate and lead tasks within defined projects in a fast-paced environment
- Travel will be required up to 25%
Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 commensurate with experience
