About the role:

Superluminal Medicines, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Sr Scientist with experience in GPCR pharmacology and drug discovery to join their growing and dynamic Biology team. Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative to troubleshoot and accurately perform data analysis in an environment that values scientific integrity and quality.
  • Interpret and demonstrate effective written and oral communication of results to interdisciplinary teams including but not limited to the computational biology and machine learning scientists.
  • Conduct in vitro assays that support drug discovery programs.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and the discipline to execute experiments closely following SOPs as well as make suggestions to improve experimental design and SOPs.
  • Advance external collaborations and outsourced studies 
  • Analyze experimental data and present results at project meetings.
  • Prepare technical reports to support regulatory submissions.
  • Mentor and direct the daily activities of a small group of Research Associates
  • Ensure compliance with company established practices and procedures, including laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related discipline with a minimum of at least 5 years of relevant experience. Applicants with BS or MS degrees must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of significant and relevant post-graduate experience.
  • Theoretical understanding of GPCRs, drug discovery processes, and small molecule pharmacology.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in biochemical, cellular, and/or binding assay systems and ability to ensure highest quality of in vitro assay data.
  • Suggest in vitro pharmacologic methods and procedures to achieve program goals.
  • Outstanding laboratory technique to support cell culture, biochemical assays, cell based assays.  Ability to master use of complex laboratory instrumentation and related software.
  • Ensure proper function of laboratory instrumentation by overseeing maintenance and care of instruments.
  • Maintain proper inventory of essential lab supplies and reagents.
  • Prepare buffers and reagents to support experiments.
    • Must be independent and able to follow pre-established experimental designs as well as develop new methods, protocols, and technologies based on existing literature.
    • Strong work ethic and enthusiasm for a mix of laboratory work and pharmacology data curation and analysis in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment is required.
  • Experience in project management/leadership desired.
  • Experience with in vivo animal work is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and reliable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
