About the Role:

Superluminal Medicines, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative who will be responsible for managing day-to-day lab operations, supporting research efforts, and integrating automation into our processes. Reporting to the Head of Biology, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the broader research team to drive program success. The company is a target and biology-first drug discovery organization that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) methods to common drug development bottlenecks while paying close attention to the seamless integration of biology, chemistry, and computation. Roles and responsibilities:

  • Involvement in the lab build out process, including purchasing, installation and maintenance of lab equipment
  • Manage compound collection, including shipping/receiving, storage, and making assay ready plates
  • Develop and maintain automated workflows, including liquid handling systems, plate-based assays, and other lab automation tools.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize research processes through automation and data integration.
  • Work with internal scientists to help optimize and establish lab automation process for routine assays, as well as help trouble shooting technical issues as needed
  • Work with vendors to develop expertise in all internal high tech lab equipment, including various liquid handling systems, compound storage/retrieval systems, and plate readers
  • Teach bench scientists on the use, the optimization and the programing of various liquid handling systems to enhance assay and data quality
  • Organize and manage inventory for critical reagents, consumables, and equipment.
  • Work closely with medicinal chemists and biologists, including compound registration, tracking, and retrieval for testing
  • Oversee maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, including managing service contracts and repair requests.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and transparency.
  • Contribute to an open, cooperative environment by exchanging ideas and best practices with team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company established practices and procedures

 Requirements:

  • Degree in life sciences (B.S., M.S., or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in basic research, lab management, or automation
  • High level of initiative to develop and optimize lab technologies, troubleshoot and maintain lab automation systems
  • Strong expertise with complex lab automation systems such as the Bravo BenchCel, Biomek, Hamilton, and the Echo is a must
  • High energy and strong work ethic with a can-do attitude
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask between unrelated tasks
