What we’re looking for
SurveyMonkey’s product portfolio includes products such as: Apply (previously known as FluidSurveys, FluidReview) that have a large customer base. The Apply team has the autonomy of a startup while also benefiting from the infrastructure, tooling, process, design systems, and brand awareness of the wider SurveyMonkey organization, providing the best of both worlds!
We are looking for an experienced engineering manager who will work closely with SurveyMonkey’s domain experts and business owners in establishing delivery models to evolve and enhance the product in addition to ensure the health, stability, security, and performance of the system across multiple AWS data centres. You will report to the Director of Engineering.
What you’ll be working on
- Build and lead engineering organization consisting of Software engineers, Cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, etc.
- Provide technical leadership while also working closely with our engineers as a mentor and guide, holding the team accountable for success, and supporting them in their journey as they navigate their careers.
- Lead a team of engineers to enhance and maintain the Apply product. Be responsible for the health and maintenance of our existing services, and infrastructure.
- Lead and manage ownership transition of Apply from North America based teams to India.
- Actively engage with the product, design and engineering team to define and execute on the product and technology roadmap while ensuring that product meets high performance standards and remains maintainable and compliant.
- Represent Engineering for your products in all cross-functional team discussions. Act as arbiter in disagreements, promote healthy discussions, balance engineering and product priorities, and assess risk.
- Take ownership and demonstrate accountability towards established service level objectives (SLOs).
We’d love to hear from people with
- 4+ years of management experience in hiring, leading, and retaining highly performant and diverse technical teams focused on maintaining and operationalizing scalable products in cloud environments.
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in architecting, designing, developing and maintaining internet scale SaaS products while demonstrating high degree of ownership and accountability.
- Experience in Python, JavaScript, React, node.js based frameworks is must.
- Experience in SaaS products operations with a focus on product availability, application health monitoring, and incident response.
- Experience in Cloud technologies (AWS, EKS, S3), large scale databases (Relational and NoSQL), DevOps pipelines, Kubernetes, networking and security technologies, etc.
- Prior experience in leading sustenance engineering teams is a plus.
