What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test II to join SurveyMonkey. As a senior-level quality expert, you will drive the testing strategy, automation frameworks, and quality engineering initiatives to ensure our platforms deliver a seamless and scalable user experience. You will play a key role in mentoring engineers, leading test automation efforts, and optimizing quality processes to enhance our software development lifecycle.
This role goes beyond test execution and automation—you will influence test architecture, CI/CD integration, and shift-left testing strategies to ensure high-quality, high-performing applications. If you have a passion for software quality, strong technical expertise, and a mindset for continuous improvement, we would love to hear from you!
What you’ll be working on
- Architect and develop scalable, reusable test automation frameworks for both frontend and backend services.
- Drive the overall testing strategy, ensuring robust test coverage across functional, performance, security, and accessibility testing.
- Lead test automation initiatives, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering a quality-first mindset across development teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to identify quality risks and mitigation strategies early in the development cycle.
- Establish and refine quality metrics to measure test effectiveness, software reliability, and defect prevention.
- Lead efforts in shift-left testing, ensuring defects are identified early and prevented from reaching production.
- Own performance, scalability, and load testing strategies, ensuring our applications can handle high traffic volumes.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in test automation, exploratory testing, and risk-based testing.
We’d love to hear from people with
- 8+ years of experience in software testing and test automation development, with a strong focus on scalability and performance.
- Proven expertise in building and maintaining test automation frameworks using tools such as WebdriverIO, Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Strong experience in API testing (e.g., Postman, Pytest, or REST Assured).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and experience integrating automated tests.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
- Hands-on experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- Experience leading performance and scalability testing (e.g., JMeter, k6, Locust).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with experience using logs, monitoring tools, and browser dev tools.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps best practices.
- Prior experience mentoring and coaching engineers on test automation and quality best practices.
