What we’re looking for
Our new Content Engineering team is looking for a seasoned software engineer passionate about solving complex, challenging problems who can work with their primary team in Costa Rica and other peers across North America. We manage the technology powering our website, content creation & localization tools for multiple products, and we work with cross-functional partners to grow our business and expand our international presence. If you have a proven track record in frontend technologies, expertise in building and supporting frameworks, and a passion for building large-scale sites, we invite you to be a key collaborator in shaping the future of our frontend stack.
What you’ll be working on
- Scale Globally: Drive growth by optimizing SEO, internationalization, and the content authoring experience.
- Own the Lifecycle: Lead technical specs, write clean/testable code, and monitor post-release performance.
- Architect Systems: Design modular packages and components that expand our global design system.
- Bridge the Gap: Partner with Product Owners to define features that impact platforms, services, and core frameworks.
- Champion Excellence: Lead cross-team technical initiatives, perform rigorous code reviews, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
We’d love to hear from people with
- Proven Expertise: 8+ years of professional experience shipping high-quality production code.
- Technical Mastery: Expert knowledge of web standards, accessibility, and modern JavaScript (React, Node.js, Webpack, Storybook).
- Performance Focus: Skill in "putting JavaScript on a diet" and utilizing caching technologies (Redis, Varnish, Memcache) for peak efficiency.
- Leadership Mindset: A drive to promote engineering standards, adopt new technologies, and collaborate across global time zones.
- Collaborative Mindset: A strong interest in conducting code reviews, writing detailed technical specs, and collaborating effectively within and across teams.
- Problem Solvers: A passion for troubleshooting complex issues and promoting engineering best practices.
SurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making. As such, this opportunity is hybrid and requires you to work from the SurveyMonkey office in Heredia 2 days per week.
