Job Overview: Reporting to the CFO the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the full month-end close process, accounts payable, journal entries, account reconciliations and more. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accrual-based accounting, a strong understanding of US GAAP, be organized and detail-oriented, self motivated, a team player and a resourceful and creative problem solver.  

We have ambitious growth plans and are looking for energized team members to join us.

We are headquartered in Austin, TX and the ideal person must be located in Austin and willing to meet in office. 

What you’ll bring: 

  • 5+ years of successful strategic accounting and finance experience, preferably in high growth startup organizations including month end close process, general ledger posting, account reconciliations, and general accounting 
  • Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis experience
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent systems skills and experience working with Excel, Word, and similar work efficiency products as well as accounting systems such as QuickBooks
  • Degree in accounting, business management, or CPA preferred
  • DoD and DCAA compliance and/or job cost accounting experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

How you will lead: 

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budget-to-actual reporting and other ad hoc reporting
  • Prepare and perform all month end journal entries and reconciliations including prepaids, revenue recognition, and payroll journal entries
  • Process vendor invoices and expense reports
  • Process sales orders, prepare invoices and process accounts receivable
  • Calculate and prepare monthly government contract invoice in accordance with contract and DCAA guidelines including labor distribution calculations
  • Calculate commissions and variable compensation
  • Implement and enforce company accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP, tax laws, and DCAA guidelines
  • Works with external auditors to prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Support fractional CFO as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned
