Position Overview
The Puppet Generalist will be a versatile artist responsible for creating and animating puppets across various stages of production. This role requires a blend of artistic skill, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of puppet performance to bring characters to life in a visually compelling and emotionally resonant manner.
Key Responsibilities

Puppet Creation: Design and build puppet characters, including sculpting, painting, and assembling various components.

Rigging & Animation: Develop and implement puppet rigs, ensuring they are suitable for both practical and digital animation techniques.

Performance Capture: Animate puppet characters using traditional and digital methods, capturing nuanced performances that align with the project's artistic vision.

Collaboration: Work closely with directors, animators, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of puppet characters into the overall production.

Problem-Solving: Address and resolve technical challenges related to puppet performance, rigging, and animation.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of puppet designs, rigs, and animation techniques for consistency and future reference.
Qualifications

Experience: Proven experience in puppet fabrication and animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of puppet characters and performances.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in puppet rigging and animation software; experience with both practical and digital animation techniques.

Artistic Ability: Strong understanding of character design, anatomy, and movement principles.

Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Adaptability: Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Software Proficiency: Experience with animation software such as Adobe After Effects, Toon Boom, or similar tools.

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique challenges and techniques involved in puppet animation for film and television.

Creative Background: Interest or background in animation, puppetry, or related fields.
