Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and creative Lead Soft Goods Fabricator to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in crafting the tactile elements that bring our puppets and characters to life. From designing intricate costumes to assembling expressive puppetry components, the Lead Soft Goods Fabricator ensures that every fabric-based element meets our high standards of artistry and functionality.
Key Responsibilities

Design & Construction: Lead the design and fabrication of soft goods elements, including costumes, puppetry components, and accessories, ensuring they align with character concepts and production requirements.

Material Selection: Choose appropriate fabrics and materials that meet aesthetic, durability, and performance standards.

Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of fabricators, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.

Collaboration: Work closely with production designers, puppet makers, and animators to integrate soft goods elements seamlessly into the overall production.

Quality Control: Oversee the finishing processes, including sewing, dyeing, and distressing, to ensure high-quality results.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of designs, materials used, and construction techniques for future reference and consistency.
Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in soft goods fabrication, costume design, or a related field, preferably within a film, television, or theater production environment.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in sewing, pattern making, dyeing, and distressing techniques. Experience with a variety of fabrics and materials.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to address challenges and find innovative solutions.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.
Preferred Qualifications

Specialized Knowledge: Experience with animatronic costumes, puppetry, or wearable character design.

Software Skills: Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator or CAD for pattern drafting.

Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a range of soft goods projects, highlighting creativity and technical expertise.
