Position Overview

Sylogist Ltd. PMO is seeking a Project Manager to join our team on a 1-year contract (maternity leave coverage), with the potential for permanent hire after the contract ends. This role focuses on internal product management and cross-departmental projects, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and achieve measurable impact.

The successful candidate will be an experienced project leader with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple IT and project-focused initiatives. They will empower teams through effective leadership, foster collaborative partnerships, and drive process improvements that support the PMO—leading with openness and transparency across the organization.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manage multiple internal IT projects simultaneously through the entire lifecycle (planning → execution → close-out).

  • Coordinate priorities across departments, balancing competing needs while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Drive planning, resource allocation, and prioritization to manage overlapping workstreams.

  • Manage and report on project status to key stakeholders and managers through meaningful transparency.

  • Oversee project backlog, sprint planning, and reporting using Azure DevOps.

  • Monitor and report on project health, including milestones, percent complete, budget vs. actuals, risks, and issues.

  • Proactively identify, document, and mitigate project issues and risks, escalating critical issues appropriately.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and foster an environment of collaboration across dynamic teams.

  • Facilitate discovery and documentation of software configurations and enhancements, supporting successful delivery and transition to the PMO and Product Management for roadmap consideration.

  • Support the PMO by driving process, project, and product improvements through gap analysis, retrospectives, and best practice scaling.

  • Provide structured, transparent, and consistent communication to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Contribute to capacity/resource management, ensuring effective utilization of team members.

What We Look for in You

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or Project Management.

  • 5–10 years of IT or product-related Project Management experience for medium to large projects.

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Iterative) with hands-on experience in backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Demonstrated experience with Azure DevOps (or equivalent) for backlog management, sprint planning, dashboards, reporting, and team tracking.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects across teams and departments.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in risk management, including identification, escalation, and creation of recovery plans.

  • Excellent time management and disciplined work habits, with the ability to work calmly under pressure.

  • Strong conflict management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives within a PMO or department.

  • Project Management certification or specialization (CAPM, PMP, Scrum Master), showing deeper commitment beyond initial schooling.

Nice-to-Haves

  • ERP or enterprise software project experience.

  • Familiarity with municipal or government organizations.

  • Technical background or IT systems integration experience.

  • Knowledge of organizational and PMO principles and practices.
