Outside Sales
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Sales Representative to own and grow end-user business in the Richmond, VA market. This is a full-cycle, outside sales role: you will be out in the field, driving to customer sites, creating opportunities, and taking deals from first contact all the way through closing.
You’ll work with end users in your territory, helping them with door-related solutions (industrial/commercial doors, etc.), backed by an established operational and service team.
Key Responsibilities
· Prospect and develop new end-user accounts in the Richmond area and surrounding region
· Drive to customer sites, introduce our services, and uncover needs
· Proactively reach out to potential customers rather than waiting for inbound leads
· Manage the full sales cycle:
· Initial outreach and relationship building
· Needs assessment, site visits, and solution scoping
· Preparing and presenting proposals/quotes
· Following through to close, and handoff to operations as needed
· Grow revenue within your territory by:
· Expanding share of wallet with existing customers
· Identifying and winning new accounts in target segments
· Collaborate with internal teams (technicians, operations, and leadership) to:
· Ensure jobs are scoped accurately and expectations are clear
· Support smooth handoff from sale to execution and ongoing service
· Maintain accurate records of activity and pipeline in the company’s systems (CRM/Greenhouse/other tools as provided)
· Represent the company in a professional, solutions-oriented manner in the field and with customers
Ideal Background & Experience
We are flexible in how you come to the role, but you should have strength in either sales or the door industry (ideally both):
· Preferred experience profiles:
· Experienced outside salesperson (e.g., construction trades, building products, roofing, HVAC, or similar), willing to learn the door industry, or
· Someone from the door industry or a closely related trade who can be developed into a strong outside salesperson
· Proven ability to:
· Hunt for new business and build relationships from scratch
· Work independently in the field and manage your own schedule and territory
· Take opportunities from first contact through closing
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable meeting people face-to-face, asking questions, and driving conversations toward a decision
Compensation & Benefits
· Base salary + commissions depending on experience.
· Tools & perks provided:
· Company vehicle
· Laptop
· Company phone
· Gas card and RAM fuel/expense cards (moving away from traditional credit cards)
What We’re Looking For
· A self-starter who likes being out in the field, meeting people, and building a book of business
· Strong closer who can own the process from prospecting to signing the deal
· Someone who can learn our product line and industry (if not already from the door space) and represent it confidently to end users
· A long-term builder—this is a role where earnings and relationships grow over time, not a quick-turn, transactional position
