ABOUT SYNTHBEE

SynthBee was founded to build safe, scalable, and reliable Collaborative Intelligence™ to amplify human innovation. We apply our novel computing intelligence platform to complex, mission-critical systems across healthcare, defense, aerospace, automotive, robotics, security, climate, and more—for customers who demand reliability, transparency, and ethics above all.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the inaugural legal hire for SynthBee, the VP, Legal will serve as the primary architect of the organization’s legal framework. This individual will assume full leadership of all legal affairs during this critical growth phase, providing both high-level strategic counsel and hands-on operational execution. The successful candidate will transition the company from its current state to a fully-realized legal department, ensuring that legal strategy serves as a catalyst for business velocity rather than a bureaucratic constraint.

Core Responsibilities

  • Departmental Architecture: Design and implement foundational legal processes, corporate governance standards, and scalable document management systems.
  • Commercial Transactions: Lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of high-volume commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements with a focus on efficiency and risk mitigation.
  • Intellectual Property Strategy: Oversee the global IP portfolio, including the management of trademark filings and patent strategies to safeguard the company’s core innovations.
  • Employment & Compliance: Advise on complex employment law matters, equity compensation structures, and regulatory compliance across domestic and international jurisdictions.
  • Corporate Governance: Manage board-related documentation, corporate records, and regulatory filings to ensure constant readiness for future financing rounds or audits.
  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a dedicated partner to the executive leadership team, delivering pragmatic, solution-oriented advice that facilitates rapid decision-making in a high-growth environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Operational Excellence: You possess a mindset characterized by a relentless internal drive for perfection and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Collaborative Leadership: You maintain a high-service, low-ego professional demeanor, viewing internal stakeholders as clients and prioritizing the collective success of the organization over personal hierarchy.
  • Technological Proficiency: You are adept at leveraging legal-tech to optimize workflows and scale the legal function without proportional increases in headcount.
Deep knowledge of tech transactions preferred.
  • Strategic Agility: You demonstrate the ability to oscillate between granular contract review and high-level strategic planning, maintaining a fast-paced momentum without compromising legal integrity.
  • Entrepreneurial Resilience: You thrive in ambiguity and possess the judgment to determine when to prioritize speed and when to apply rigorous legal scrutiny.

Not sure you check every box? Apply anyway. At SynthBee, we value unique perspectives, transferable skills, and a genuine growth mindset. If this work excites you and your experience aligns with the core responsibilities, we want to hear from you.
