That’s all well and good, but despite our high-tech profile, we recognize that none of this is possible without our people. Which is why we’re thrilled to be adding a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to our team. The COO will be responsible for leading the company's operational strategy and overseeing its implementation across various departments. This executive role requires a dynamic leader who can optimize organizational processes, ensure operational excellence, and help scale the business. The COO will work closely with the CEO, leadership team, and other stakeholders to ensure that the company’s operational infrastructure supports its growth and objectives.
Here’s what you’ll be working on:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s strategic goals and objectives
- Lead operational planning and identify areas for improvement across the organization
- Establish performance metrics and ensure alignment with company goals
- Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of all departments, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Tech
- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, efficiency, and productivity
- Implement best practices in operational management and promote a culture of accountability
- Financial Oversight:
- Work with the CFO to manage the company’s budget, forecasts, and resource allocation
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and propose corrective actions as needed
- Ensure that operational activities are in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and financial guidelines
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior management and department heads to ensure they are equipped to meet their operational goals
- Foster a positive and productive work environment that supports employee engagement and retention
- Build and maintain high-performance teams by ensuring ongoing training and professional development
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards
- Business Growth:
- Drive operational scalability to support the company's growth objectives
- Analyze market trends, operational benchmarks, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for expansion or innovation
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure smooth coordination and efficient decision-making
- Communicate operational strategies and updates effectively to internal and external stakeholders
A successful COO must bring the following skills, knowledge, education, and experience:
- 8-10 years of proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or in a senior operational leadership role in a successful tech startup
- Proven experience in raising funds for a startup, including leading funding rounds, pitching to investors, and securing capital for growth and expansion
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, business operations, and scaling strategies
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
- Experience in operational budgeting, resource allocation, financial management, and cost optimization
- Ability to analyze complex business problems, think critically, and implement practical, effective solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
- Willingness to work on-site in Delafield, WI for three days a week
