Financial Accountant

Remote/ Massachusetts preferred

We are seeking a take charge individual to manage the company’s Stock Plan administration, lead revenue recognition determinations and perform monthly analysis and reconciliations. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will need to have a comprehensive understanding of stock plan administration, experience with Revenue Recognition, and a solid background in general accounting principles. This person will work in a collaborative environment with both internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the company's equity plans, including:
    • Maintaining the equity database by keeping accurate records of all equity transactions associated with RSUs, ISOs, NQOs and internal share offerings.
    • Performing all day-to-day operations of stock activities, including processing stock issuances, vesting activities, company repurchases and employee purchases.
    • Partnering with the HR, Payroll, and external CPA and Legal teams on all matters involving employee share-based compensation.
    • Supporting ad-hoc as well as period-end reporting for stock activity and responding to equity-related inquiries from employees, managers, and external vendors.
    • Manage the equity plan budget and related forecasts throughout the year.
    • Stay current on regulatory changes and market trends related to stock administration and equity compensation.
  • Manage revenue recognition procedures in accordance with the ASC 606 Revenue Recognition standard, including:
    • Determination of contract performance obligations and appropriate revenue recognition method.
    • Compiling supporting documentation and inputs from key stakeholders.
    • Review and approval of proposed revenue recognition method with Financial Accounting.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure revenue formulas are setup properly on projects within the accounting system in-line with contractual requirements and revenue determination.
    • Review monthly revenue calculations for accuracy, investigate and document discrepancies, and provide path towards resolution to key stakeholders.
    • Optimize processes, workflows, and internal controls related to stock administration and revenue recognition.
    • Assist in the preparation and compilation of the company’s financial statements and accompanying footnotes as they relate to equity compensation and revenue recognition.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned as part of the Financial Accounting team, including but not limited to:
    • Assist in the preparation and recording of reclassifying adjusting journal entries each month.
    • Assist with the monthly account reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.
    • Assist with entering and posting journal entries to the general ledger.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in stock administration, or a related field, including restricted stock units (RSUs), incentive stock options (ISOs), and non-qualified stock options (NQOs).
  • Knowledge of equity award tax implications, and tax reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience determining proper Revenue Recognition treatment under ASC-606.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external vendors.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work effectively to manage multiple projects and within strict time constraints.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills, high integrity, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as collaboratively as a member of the accounting team.
  • Proficiency in equity administration software (ideally Shareworks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation preferred.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint financial applications
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government
