General Ledger Accounting Manager

Remote/ Massachusetts

We are seeking a take charge individual to manage the company’s General Ledger Accounting group, lead the month-end accounting close, manage the company’s financial accounts and perform account analyses and reconciliations. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, you will need to have a comprehensive understanding of government accounting, FAR regulations, experience in cost accounting, and a solid background in generally accepted accounting principles. This person will work in a collaborative environment with both internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the month end accounting close, including:
    • Reviewing labor distribution.
    • Reviewing and approving expense reports.
    • Creating, reviewing, and approving journal entries.
    • Generating and reviewing project status reports.
    • Analyzing, computing, and posting revenue.
    • Generating monthly and quarterly accruals.
    • Maintaining fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
    • Processing monthly lab allocations.
    • Supporting inquiries from employees, managers, and external vendors.
  • Manage monthly account reconciliations, including:
    • Compiling supporting documentation and inputs from key stakeholders.
    • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure revenue formulas are setup properly on projects within the accounting system in-line with contractual requirements and revenue determination.
    • Reviewing monthly revenue calculations for accuracy, investigate and document discrepancies, and provide path towards resolution to key stakeholders.
  • Optimize processes, workflows, and internal controls related to general ledger accounting.
  • Assist in the preparation and compilation of the company’s financial statements and accompanying footnotes.
  • Assist in the preparation and recording of reclassifying adjusting journal entries each month.
  • Support the company’s financial strategy and financial audits.
  • Monitoring and analyzing financial accounting data.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Management level experience
  • Knowledge of FAR regulations
  • Knowledge of government contracts, and GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external vendors.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work effectively to manage multiple projects and within strict time constraints.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills, high integrity, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as collaboratively as a member of the accounting team.
  • Proficient in Deltek Costpoint or other equivalent financial ERP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government

The salary range for this role is $125k to $160k
