Lead Optical Signal Processing Engineer
The Role:
The MDA Group is seeking a Lead Signal Processing Engineer to develop advanced sensing concepts utilizing optical signal processing, resource management, and advanced sensor algorithm development, as well as executing advanced sensor concept demonstrations.
A successful candidate will have working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: advanced signal processing, passive optical systems, remote sensing, or resource management; or a strong background in a foundational field for these areas (i.e. – mathematics, physics, etc.). Additional desired skillsets would be the application of AI/ML principals into advanced signal processing algorithms. This position requires skills working as part of multi-disciplinary teams designing and analyzing signal processing algorithms for complex systems. Strong technical, interpersonal, communication, and technical leadership skills are desired.
What you will do:
- Develop system concepts and signal processing algorithms for remote sensing supported by modeling and experimentation
- Lead and work as part of a small, focused team to architect, develop, implement, and test optical signal processing systems
- Modeling and Simulation of advanced optical systems, new sensing paradigms, and multi-function concepts
Who you are:
- This position requires the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government
- MS (with 5+ years of relevant experience) or PhD (with 2+ years of relevant experience) in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- Experience in passive optical image processing such as image-based registration, nonuniformity correction, and Weiner filtering among others
- Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python as well as other higher-level languages
- Strong Mathematical, particularly with Fourier analysis, and linear algebra troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills
Even Better:
- Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
- Experience with optical system concepts, multi-dimensional signal processing, system optimization, or multi-function apertures
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of adaptive radar and fused processing
- Hands-on experience with data in low SNR environments
- Experience with algorithm optimization for real time systems, especially remote sensing
