Lead ERP Specialist

STR is seeking a highly motivated business professional with extensive experience in the defense industry dealing with ERP and CRM systems. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience dealing with Unanet’s ERP GovCon and CRM GovCon systems. The ERP Implementation Specialist will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and be responsible for guiding STR’s cross-functional team through a successful implementation of Unanet’s ERP and CRM systems, while exuding knowledge and lessons learned from prior experiences in system setup and configuration, dashboards and reporting, and training to support user adoption of a new system for go-live readiness.  Additionally, the ERP Implementation Specialist will be integral at every level of the system implementation, working closely with STR’s Implementation Program Manager with managing tasks to ensure the overall implementation completes on time and within budget. 

Following the successful implementation of the new ERP and CRM system, the ERP Implementation Specialist will be tasked with being STR’s local expert on the system, responsible for supporting on-going configuration and bug fixes, helping to make continuous improvements in reporting and user experience, and be the focal for refresher and new hire training across multiple functions and role types.  Furthermore, this person will engage with Unanet from time-to-time, provide recommendations on behalf of STR, and attend user conferences as necessary.   

The position requires an individual with a program management mindset, strong communication skills, and ability to effectively engage across all organizational levels including executive level.  Additional requirements include an appreciation for the STR mission, business model and values.

Key Duties of the position include:

  • System Subject Matter Expertise:  Leveraging prior experience with ERP and CRM systems, particularly Unanet, be the internal go-to person for all things system related, including but not limited to configuration, Contract and project setup, Analytics Studio, DataLake, financial reporting, resource planning, project and subcontract management, procurement
  • Partnership with Implementation PM:  Fully engage with the Implementation PM on day-to-day tasks, support meetings with functional leads on the implementation team, help to prepare material for internal reviews with STR’s Steering Committee. 
  • Collaborator: Be a part of the cross-functional team, collaborating across functions and find ways to support all staffs needs throughout the implementation and post go-live with the new system
  • Enhance User Experience:  Work with various user groups, consider ways to enhance user experience through offering small group sessions demonstrating existing tools, support creation of custom user specific reports, setup dashboards, and help users navigate as they learn a new system
  • Document Best Practices:  Leverage prior system experience to document the best ways to go about completing daily and repetitive tasks, generating automated reports, and accessing data in a easy way such that all users are able to find the same information with ease
  • Post go-live Support and Training:  Be STR’s resident expert once the implementation is complete, develop training material for both refresher and new hire training. Educate users on both system enhancements and new features and capabilities as they become available
  • Support problem resolution: Own the process of working with users when problems arise, determine if resolution can be performed by STR or if engagement with Unanet Customer Support is required.  See problems through until resolution, whether it can be handled internally or externally   
  • Reporting & Dashboard Needs:  Support each role type and business function identify the types of reports necessary to perform their roles and dashboards that can improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness for the business.

Position Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience dealing with Unanet’s GovCon ERP and CRM systems
  • Previous experience working with both leadership teams and implementation teams
  • Displays ability to be influential with decision-making, supported by facts and lessons learned from prior experiences
  • Proven ability to be a change agent and examples of supporting user adoption of new systems in prior roles
  • Motivated collaborator with effective and influential communication skills
  • Experience successfully working across functions
  • Displays a high-level of attention to detail
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with demand of multiple tasks across multiple functions at a time
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance for which U.S. citizenship is required by the DoD

Additional Requirements 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required; Masters or MBA preferred
  • Years of experience: 15+ years defense industry experience, 12+ years total ERP system experience
  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP)
