Systems Administrator - Secret Clearance Required

STR is hiring a Systems Administrator-Ops Support to act as a liaison between the Infrastructure and Service Desk teams.  We are looking for a motivated SA that’s looking for the opportunity to further develop their technological skills. The Systems Administrator will perform tasks in support of all aspects of IT infrastructure across all locations.

The Systems Administrator will be onsite in Woburn, MA. 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with projects across the enterprise infrastructure with accountability for the project outcome through sound project management skills
  • Support Data Center/Server Rooms and Cloud operations: Hardware and software system provisioning, configuration, monitoring/alerting, and administration of Linux, Windows, VMware/vSphere, Hyper-V, Cloud computing, printers, and phones
  • Support for Application (JIRA, Confluence, GitLab)
  • Collaborate and communicate with other IT teams for completing projects and troubleshooting problems
  • Troubleshoot interactions in storage, servers, networks and databases in collaboration with other systems administrators and technical teams
  • Administer computer and network infrastructure security and the associated data and access controls
  • Perform patch updates and vulnerability remediation of computer systems
  • Ensure high availability of all critical applications while meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Build and troubleshoot Linux & Windows machines
  • Racking servers and other infrastructure related hardware such as UPS, switches, and storage devices
  • Provide Tier 2 support for Service Desk ticket escalation
  • Conduct internal reviews of infrastructure components and recommendations for improvements
  • Document all infrastructure, processes and procedures
  • Assist in external user account process

REQUIREMENTS:

  • US Citizenship, must be able to obtain a DoD Clearance
  • Work onsite in Woburn, MA office
  • 5+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to systems development, implementation and administration
  • Experience as a Linux and/or Windows Administrator
  • Experience with centralized authentication technologies such as Active Directory, and LDAP
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Microsoft networking concepts with work experience in supporting Local Area and Wide Area Networks
  • Knowledge of system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat), Windows Server, Windows clients
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other office locations
  • Available for occasional off-hours outages and to take part in service restoration efforts
  • Good problem-solving and strong communication skills
  • Customer service oriented, attentive to detail, and with strong team and collaborative mindset
  • Self-starter requiring limited direction and supervision
  • Strong interest in learning new technologies
  • Interest in learning network administration
  • Ability to communicate with end users about complex issues in easy to understand terminology
  • Ability to understand and act on the customer needs and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Nagios or other monitoring solution
  • Veeam or other backup software
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language and automation
  • Knowledge using ServiceNow or other ticketing system

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related technical field preferred (equivalent experience and certifications may be considered)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $107,179 - $134,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
