Senior Technical Recruiter

STR is seeking a Senior Technical Recruiter to drive full lifecycle recruiting for a portfolio of complex technical roles supporting our defense and national security mission. This is a senior individual contributor role designed for an experienced recruiting professional who thrives in a fast-paced hiring environment and brings deep expertise recruiting for both cleared and uncleared technical talent as well as for non-technical positions. In this role, you will partner closely with hiring managers, technical leaders, and HR to deliver high-quality hiring outcomes across difficult-to-fill domains such as cyber, data analytics, sensors, radar, RF, software, and systems engineering. You will serve as a trusted advisor on talent availability, market dynamics, and hiring strategy while ensuring a professional, engaging, and compliant candidate experience. This position does not include people management but offers significant ownership, autonomy, and impact.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Full Lifecycle Technical Recruiting - Own the end-to-end recruiting process for assigned requisitions, from intake and sourcing through offer acceptance. Manage a mix of cleared and uncleared roles, ensuring hiring plans align with technical requirements, clearance constraints, and business priorities.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Pipeline Development - Develop and execute advanced sourcing strategies to identify high-caliber technical candidates, including direct outreach, referrals, niche job boards, and targeted searches. Build and maintain pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill skill areas to support both immediate and future hiring needs.
  • Hiring Manager Partnership - Partner closely with hiring managers and technical leaders to understand mission needs and technical depth required. Provide clear guidance on labor market conditions, candidate availability, compensation expectations, and realistic timelines.
  • Candidate Engagement & Experience - Act as a primary ambassador for STR’s culture and mission. Engage candidates with transparency and professionalism, ensuring a positive experience from initial contact through onboarding. Communicate effectively with candidates throughout the process and manage expectations with care.
  • Offer Management & Closing - Lead the offer process, including preparing offers, coordinating approvals, negotiating compensation, and closing candidates. Navigate competing offers and clearance-related complexities while balancing candidate needs with internal equity and business requirements.
  • Interview Process & ATS Excellence - Utilize Greenhouse and Outlook to coordinate interviews, collect feedback, and maintain accurate documentation. Ensure interview processes are efficient, well-structured, and candidate-centric while meeting internal standards.
  • Compliance & Process Integrity - Ensure recruiting activities comply with company policies, OFCCP requirements, and applicable federal contractor regulations. Maintain audit-ready documentation and effectively influence hiring managers regarding their compliance responsibilities.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement - Collaborate with HR teammates and fellow recruiters to share best practices, improve recruiting workflows, and enhance overall hiring effectiveness. Contribute to process improvements that strengthen candidate quality, speed, and experience.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications)

  • 6-8+ years of recruiting experience, with a strong focus on technical roles but also has experience with non-technical roles
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience recruiting in defense, aerospace, government contracting, or national security environments is a must
  • Demonstrated success recruiting for hard-to-fill technical positions such as cyber security, analytics, software, systems, sensors, radar, or RF
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting cleared talent and navigating clearance-related constraints
  • Proficient with applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build trust with candidates, hiring managers, and leadership
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple complex requisitions simultaneously
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Commitment to collaboration, integrity, and high-quality outcomes

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Background recruiting for R&D, advanced engineering, or highly specialized technical teams
  • Experience recruiting across both cleared and uncleared environments
  • Experience supporting university or early-career technical pipelines
  • Skillbridge experience is a plus
