Responsibilities
Pharmacy Data Collection Specialist (DCS) on the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) will contact pharmacy providers to obtain billing records. DCS will collect data from different types of pharmacies and should be able to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with a pharmacies’ point of contact by phone in an effort to gain cooperation. DCS will also extract and enter relevant prescription/supply information along with expenditures onto a project-specific database.
- Call Pharmacies
- Identify the Point of Contact (POC)
- Introduce the Study
- Verify provider type and determine their eligibility
- Send authorization forms
- Confirm receipt of authorization forms
- Complete Pharmacy event forms and abstraction
Qualifications
Required
- Call Center Experience, preferably outbound calling with some interviewing, contacting or negotiating with business establishments/ service providers and other professional personnel.
- Applicant must have at minimum high school diploma
- Ability to consistently work in an office environment in the Research Triangle Park area.
- Ability to work full time hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday 8am - 430pm
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities Required
- Effective business-to business telephone recruiting and etiquette skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills, above average vocal presentation, problem solving skills, and data management skills
- Ability to interact comfortably on a computer and perform data entry tasks and toggle between screens while speaking on the phone
- Ability to perform data entry tasks using 10-key typing while maintaining accuracy
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic pharmaceutical terminology, drugs and billing
- Ability to pass evaluation and skills assessment tests during initial hiring process
Project Specific Requirements
- Successfully complete the site-specific general interviewer training
- Successfully complete the home study exercises
- Successfully complete the project specific trainings
- Maintain the study data quality standards by completing all interviews and forms completely and accurately
- Adhere to study production guidelines
- Adhere to study confidentiality requirements
Preferred
- 4-year college degree, but applicant must have at minimum high school diploma plus two years of pharmacy experience (preferably at a retail setting) or a combination of education, training and experience.
- Active Pharmacy Technician Certification or 3 years work experience with medical billing within mail-order, long-term care, hospital, or retail pharmacies
