About the Job:
Taco Bell is looking to hire an experienced attorney as Sr. Manager, Franchising & Development (US). This position is accountable for providing strategic, business-focused legal support for the US business in franchising as well as company development issues. This involves working closely and cross-functionally with franchising, development, operations, finance, and other functions within the organization to advise on and resolve issues relating to franchising. This includes developing, drafting, and assisting in enforcement policies, reviewing and managing franchise-related transfers, including company and franchise (M&A) transfers, as well negotiation, drafting, and reviewing franchise documents. This also requires overseeing a team of paralegals responsible for legal franchise-related work in the US.
The Day-to-Day:
- Providing advice and counsel on franchise matters, including franchise policy disputes, revising and updating franchise policies, addressing brand standards and operations concerns with franchisees, as well as financial issues with franchisees (including new investors), development-related issues, and company-franchisee relations.
- Drafting and negotiating agreements and deals with franchisees, including for M&A transfers, exercise of company right of first refusal, development agreements, franchise agreements, and relationship agreements.
- Overseeing and managing process for review of franchise to franchise transfers, as well as franchise restructures to ensure compliance with company brand standards. In addition, advising on changes to process and implementing changes in process as necessary.
- Hiring and managing outside counsel for franchise issues and disclosure-related issues.
- Managing company risk related to franchising and franchisee-related events, including review of materials for compliance and advising in crisis situations.
- Other tasks as assigned by Sr. Director, Global Franchise and also the Global Chief Legal Officer.
Is This You?
- Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent required
- Minimum of 6 years of legal experience, either in complex transactions, general litigation, or franchising. Experience in restaurant industries preferred.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or management position
- Licensed member in good standing of the CA State Bar
- Experience providing practical business-savvy and commercial advice.

Salary Range: $165,000 to $180,000 annually + bonus eligibility + benefits
