Job Overview:
We are seeking a Graphic Designer with a mastery of print media and a heavy emphasis on packaging and retail displays. This role is for a designer who understands that great packaging isn't just about the visuals, it’s about the tactile experience, structural integrity, and the science of materials. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between creative concept and physical production, possessing a deep understanding of how various substrates, finishes, and manufacturing processes affect the final product.
Responsibilities:
- Packaging & Display Design: Lead the design and development of high-impact product packaging, corrugated point-of-purchase (POP) displays, and retail signage that stands out in a competitive market.
- Material & Finish Selection: Research and specify materials (substrates, paper weights, coatings) and finishes (spot UV, foil stamping, embossing, soft-touch laminates) to elevate the brand’s physical presence.
- Structural Conceptualization: Collaborate on dieline creation and structural design, ensuring packaging is not only beautiful but functional, durable, and optimized for the unboxing experience.
- Print Production Management: Prepare meticulous, production-ready files. Communicate directly with printers and manufacturers to troubleshoot prepress issues and ensure color consistency across different materials.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed product manuals and technical inserts that maintain the brand aesthetic while providing clear, functional information.
- Brand Stewardship: Ensure all physical touchpoints adhere to brand guidelines while pushing the boundaries of what our visual identity can achieve in a 3D space.
- R&D and Prototyping: Stay at the forefront of sustainable packaging trends and new printing technologies to keep Tactacam’s retail presence innovative and eco-conscious.
Requirements:
- Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in Graphic Design, specifically focused on Packaging and Print Production.
- Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop are non-negotiable).
- Production Knowledge: Deep understanding of offset, flexographic, and digital printing, as well as the technicalities of ink behavior on various substrates.
- Detail Obsession: A "measure twice, cut once" mentality. You have a keen eye for typography, bleed margins, and registration marks.
- Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work closely with Product Development and Marketing teams to translate technical specs into consumer-facing excellence.
- Problem Solver: You don’t just design "pretty boxes"; you solve for shipping durability, shelf-presence, and cost-effective manufacturing.
Comprehensive Benefits Package:
Our benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage to ensure your well-being. Plan for the future with our 401k plan, and take time off to recharge with PTO. We've got you covered with Disability Insurance and Life Insurance too!
