Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer

At Tactile Medical, we specialize in developing at-home therapy devices to treat lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency and respiratory illnesses.

The Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing both on premises and cloud infrastructure solutions. This position blends traditional infrastructure engineering with modern cloud architecture, ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with organizational objectives.

The role spans enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms (primarily Azure), networking, virtualization, automation, security, disaster recovery, and operational excellence. The Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer partners with cross functional teams, executes the implementation of technical initiatives, and contributes to long term technology roadmap planning.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture
• Design and implement enterprise grade solutions across on premises datacenters and cloud platforms (primarily Azure).
• Develop and maintain architectural standards, reference designs, and documentation.
• Lead cloud migrations, including assessment, planning, execution, and optimization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies across infrastructure and cloud domains to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Ensure infrastructure aligns with business goals, scalability targets, and operational SLAs.

Security, Compliance & Governance
• Design and enforce security controls for both cloud and on prem environments, in partnership with the Information Security team.
• Support vulnerability management, system hardening, and incident response.
• Ensure adherence to compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC2, and ISO 27001.
• Implement cost governance, tagging standards, and cloud usage policies.

Operations, Reliability & Optimization
• Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity across hybrid environments.
• Maintain and improve disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Provide escalation support, including root cause analysis and on call participation for critical systems.
• Maintain operational runbooks, diagrams, and lifecycle management documentation.
• Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and orchestration tools.

Collaboration, Leadership & Influence
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Application, Security, and Operations teams to ensure cohesive solution design.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on cloud and infrastructure strategy, capabilities, and risks.
• Lead or support projects involving vendors, internal teams, and external partners.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and cloud engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in multiple areas:
o Cloud Platforms: Azure (required); AWS/GCP a plus.
o Servers & Directory Services: Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 (including Exchange).
o Virtualization & Containers: VxRail/VMware, Docker, Kubernetes.
o Storage & Networking: LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewalls, VPNs, Isilon, Nutanix.
o Automation & IaC: Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep, CI/CD concepts.
o DR/BCP: Cloud and on prem disaster recovery and continuity planning.
• Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are preferred.

Below is the starting salary or hourly range for this position, although offers may differ based on the candidate's location, job-specific knowledge, skills and experience.

US Pay Range

$93,600 - $131,040 USD
