About the Role
The Senior Director of Strategic Finance is a key member of the finance team responsible for driving financial strategy, business planning, and operational excellence across the organization. This role partners closely with executive leadership team members and the finance team to translate strategic priorities into actionable financial plans, ensure disciplined resource allocation, and deliver insights that guide high-stakes investment decisions.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator—comfortable building financial models, translating complex cross-functional initiatives into financial models, and presenting to senior leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the company’s long-range financial planning process, aligning with corporate strategy and growth objectives.
- Partner with the executive team to ensure our business plans and priorities will achieve or exceed our long-term financial goals. Translate business strategies into multi-year financial forecasts.
- Partner with the CEO, COO, CFO, CSO, and SVP Product/Tech to ensure business strategies are translated into multi-year financial forecasts. This includes factoring in costs and benefits, along with projecting impacts on key operating metrics in the short and long-term.
- Ensure allocation of capital is optimized by leading financial evaluation of our strategic roadmap and influencing prioritization decisions based on data.
- Identify most critical initiatives to achieve Company performance, with emphasis on Cash Flow positivity, and ensure ongoing visibility to their progress and outcomes. Partner with business leaders to remediate performance issues.
- Lead financial evaluation of new products/lines of business to ensure understanding of the business/financial value.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models that support scenario analysis, capital allocation decisions, and M&A evaluations.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, providing financial insights that shape business priorities.
- Translate all new business opportunities into impact to long range profitability and influence pricing accordingly.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Drive board-level and executive reporting, ensuring clear, accurate, and actionable insights.
- Synthesize complex data into concise recommendations for decision-making.
- Monitor industry, market, and competitive trends to identify risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, corporate development, investment banking, or management consulting.
- 5+ years of management experience.
- 7+ years experience in Health Insurance or Value Based Care required.
- Proven experience influencing senior executives and boards through data-driven recommendations.
- Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of P&L management, cash flow, and capital markets.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to deliver insights that materially influence company strategy and improve business outcomes.
- Proven success in building trust with executives as a thought partner and problem solver.
- Experience leading a finance function that is forward-looking, analytical, and business-oriented.
