Marketplace Analyst

This position reports to the Head of Marketplace

Your responsibilities will include:

• Devise frameworks for annual commercial and strategic planning for Marketplace, including the development of new appropriate key performance metrics, as the business unit matures.
• Implement and compile the analysis of yearly performance metrics as specified by the commercial and strategic plan for Marketplace, including seller acquisition and retention, selection growth and listings retention, seller operational performance, and financial order economics were.
• Compile business specifications for the development of required Marketplace Business Intelligence dashboards.
• Manage the relationship with Takealot BI during the development processes, including specifying relevant prioritisation, milestones and deliverables.
• Provide analytical support to other Marketplace functional areas, where analysis or technical advice is required. This may include supporting Seller Operations, Business Development, Compliance or executive Marketplace management as needed.
• Help spread technical knowledge and skills throughout the Marketplace team, through hands-on guidance and teaching, for such skills as advanced Excel, Google Sheets or writing SQL.
• Develop business working business systems for areas within Retail and Marketplace, in cases where Takealot Engineering are not able to develop required proprietary systems in a constrained timeframe.
• This may include systems where standardised interactions and automation are required (such as in the context of a live, collaborative spreadsheet for many business users) for a given business function, such as Promotional Briefing. Such systems could be developed with the use of tools such as Google Sheets Scripting or Excel macros.
• Documentation and maintenance of Marketplace shared knowledge and SOPs, especially where technically complex, using the Jira Wiki centralised knowledge repository.
• Regular reporting and showcasing insights.
• Project management.
• Lead a team of analysts ensuring clear deliverables, prioritised projects, and regular performance feedback.

Qualification & Experience:

• Degree with post graduate study in field of expertise
• 5+ years analytical, finance or management consulting experience.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Data-obsessed, analytical and able to generate actionable insights driven by data analytics.

• KNIME / Alteryx / dataform or other ETL software or equivalent.
