At TFS, your growth is our growth. You'll be joining a team powered by Takealot Group's core values.

As a People Practitioner, you are the heartbeat of the TFS business unit. You provide hands-on support across the entire employee lifecycle, from the moment a candidate applies to their final day with the group. You’ll be the "go-to" person for line managers and employees alike, ensuring our people operations run like a well-oiled machine.

This position reports to the People Business Partner.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively advise and coach line managers on the full HR spectrum, from performance management and L&D to legislation-aligned ER and policy.
  • Lead the new starter journey, from "First Day Readiness" to facilitating high-impact business specific HR onboarding sessions.
  • Support IR processes by coordinating disciplinary matters, maintaining precise case records, and managing absenteeism initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee engagement interventions and provide hands-on support for the Employee Engagement Forum (EEF).
  • Act as the "go-to" for day-to-day queries (payroll, leave, UIF, maternity) and manage the full resignation and exit interview process.
  • Take accountability for HR data integrity, preparing monthly reports, EE divisional reports and ensuring trackers are updated.
  • Actively contribute to and support various people-related projects that drive the evolving needs of the TFS business.

Attributes required:

  • Business-Minded: You understand that HR’s primary goal is to drive business performance through people. You think systemically and see the "big picture."
  • Resilient & High-Energy: You are energised by a fast-paced, evolving environment. You demonstrate resilience, strong interpersonal awareness, and the grit to manage setbacks and demanding deadlines.
  • Operational Excellence: You work with a natural sense of urgency and possess an inherent "customer-service" mindset when managing internal stakeholders.
  • Relationship Architect: You are comfortable engaging at all levels—from the distribution centre floor to senior leadership—using your influence to drive outcomes.
  • Confidential Ethical: You treat sensitive data with absolute confidentiality and act with unwavering integrity.
  • Tech-Forward: You stay ahead of the curve with HR trends, tech, and best practices.
  • Proactive Communicator: You aren't afraid to voice an opinion or suggest a better way of doing things. You are assertive, accountable, and possess a true "can-do" attitude.
  • Organized Orchestrator: You can prioritize a heavy workload, manage expectations, and deliver quality outputs even when things get "messy”.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualifications: A Degree in HR, BCom (HR or Industrial Psychology), or BTech in HR Management.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in a fast-paced HR Generalist role, ideally within a scaling or changing environment.
  • Tech Savvy: High proficiency in Google Workspace (for data and reporting) and experience navigating ATS and HR databases.
  • Legislative Expertise: Solid, practical knowledge of South African labour laws (LRA, BCEA, EEA) and the ability to apply company policies fairly.
  • IR Confidence: Strong exposure to Employee Relations in a high-volume IR environment, including disciplinary processes, investigations, and CCMA case support.
  • Consultative Edge: Proven ability to coach and consult with line managers, helping them navigate people's challenges effectively.
  • Project Mindset: Strong organisational skills with a track record of taking ownership of HR projects from start to finish.
  • Communication: Sharp presentation skills and the ability to translate HR data into clear, actionable insights.

Be part of the extraordinary. Be part of TFS.
