Merchant Compliance Specialist
takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Merchant Compliance Specialist to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Merchant Compliance Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Vet merchants as part of the onboarding process
- Actively monitor merchants performance metrics and take any necessary steps
- Assist merchants to obtain their metrics through education and training
- Follow up on customer related issues
- Review merchant operations catalogue for any non-compliant products
- Review seller appeals, including root cause analysis and process improvements
- Engage with other teams within Takealot to assist with merchant compliance issues
- Work independently and collaboratively by using resources, policies, and procedures
- Regulatory certification based on product category - ICASA, NRCS, SAHPRA etc.
- Checking for duplicate accounts
- Checking for duplicate listings
- The operational capability of sellers and suppliers before onboarding
- Daily checking of open lead-time orders, late deliveries and cancelled orders
- Retrospective compliance action switching off sellers lead time when SLA has been breached
- Preventive compliance action switching of seller lead times based on future risk
- Daily monitoring of merchant stock holding
- Compliance action to prevent incorrect stock split as well as poor stock health
- Product and account level return rates
- Customer complaints
- Invoice requests
- Disputes arising from Compliance Actions and Penalties
- Adhoc Tasks
Attributes required:
- Process-oriented to drive to operational excellence
- Good attention to detail and ability to identify problematic products or merchant actions
- Excellent written communication skills and stakeholder management
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Thinks like an owner and drives new process improvements
- Must be able to work in high pressure situations
- Analytical mindset. You can use data to inform decisions if required.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Finance or Risk.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an operational role (Customer service experience is a plus)
- MS Excel.
- Experience working with regulatory bodies is advantageous.
- Experience in an e-commerce environment is advantageous.
- Strong enthusiasm and strong self-motivation
- Ability to embrace constant change with flexibility and good grace
