Job Title: Senior Underwriter (Bridging Loans) 
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week 
Salary: £dependent on experience and up to 20% bonus and benefits 
Location: Hybrid work from our Blackpool office (FY4 2FB)

The Senior Bridging Underwriter will be responsible for managing unregulated Bridging/Buy-To-Let applications from underwriting through to drawdown in line with lending policies, TCF principles and other relevant regulatory requirements. They’ll work within a team to positively contribute to the delivery of departmental and business key performance objectives, along with liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders to maintain quality relationships.

We’re building an amazing team and we’re looking for a Senior Bridging Underwriter with Mortgages to support us on our journey.  

The Mortgage Division is a leading provider of specialist mortgage products in the UK intermediary market. We provide a wide range of products that satisfy the market’s demand and have a reputation for providing excellent service, building strong relationships and being experts in our field.  

Your Impact: Building a greener tomorrow  

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Individual performance and contribution to achieve KPI’s set by the business. 
  • Owning individual performance and personal development. 
  • Making lending decisions in accordance within lending policies and individual mandates.  
  • Recommending any cases outside of mandate to the relevant mandate holder/committee. 
  • Managing broker expectations, prioritise tasks and caseload in line with agreed SLA’s. 
  • Responding to all underwriting queries. 
  • Approving applications for draw down of funds. 
  • Adhere strictly to internal underwriting policy and regulatory requirements, including FCA, PRA, Money laundering, Prevention of Financial Crime and Data protection.  
  • Effectively and professionally communicating with the introducer network, responding to enquiries in a timely manner and resolving any queries or issues. 
  • Work with Senior Management team in future product development including BTL mortgages.  
  • Mentor team members for underwriting bridging/Buy-to-Let applications. 
  • Maintaining a good level of knowledge of the relevant industry sector.  

We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

Essential: 

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior position, underwriting Non-regulated Bridging and Buy-to-Let applications  
  • Experience in bridging refurbishment and development finance 
  • Detailed understanding of the mortgage industry, regulation and legal requirements.

  • Good organisational and time management skills resulting in the ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and a desire to provide excellent customer service. 
  • The ability to positively contribute to a team. 
  • The ability to self-motivate and use own initiative to achieve individual targets. 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong computer literacy including working experience on Microsoft Office.
