Job Title: Prudential Risk Oversight Consultant (FTC)
Working Pattern: Fixed-Term Contract, approximately November 2025 to June 2026. We’re open to considering a 6 or 9 month arrangement for the right candidate. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week, though we’re happy to discuss part-time arrangements such as a 3 or 4 day working week.
Salary: Up to £130,000 per annum (full-time equivalent), pro-rated based on the agreed contract duration and working hours
Location: Flexible – Embrace fully UK remote or hybrid work from any of our vibrant UK offices in London, Cardiff, Durham or Blackpool.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a maternity cover within the second line of defence Prudential Risk team, with a focus on ICAAP, ILAAP and Assurance activities.

We are seeking a highly skilled Prudential Risk Oversight Consultant to join our Second Line Risk & Compliance Function, supporting the Director of Prudential Risk in a 3-person specialist team. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the Bank’s approach to key prudential risk areas, including capital, liquidity, funding, IRRBB, wholesale credit risk, climate risk, and regulatory reporting.
You will be expected to bring deep subject matter expertise, operate with a high degree of autonomy, and work proactively across teams including Finance, Treasury, and Credit Risk, providing robust second line oversight and technical challenge.
What you will be working on:
- ICAAP & ILAAP: Support the coordination, development, and second line oversight of the Bank’s ICAAP and ILAAP, including contributions to scenario design, stress testing, and capital planning.
- Prudential Risk Oversight: Ensure key prudential risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and mitigated in line with regulatory expectations, internal policies, and best practice.
- Advisory & Methodology: Provide technical guidance on prudential risk methodologies, contribute to policy and framework development, and support risk appetite articulation and regulatory interpretations.
- Deep-Dive Reviews: Design and lead thematic assurance and independent reviews on key prudential topics.
- Horizon Scanning: Monitor external developments, including regulatory, macroeconomic, and market trends, and assess their potential impact on the Bank’s prudential risk profile.
- Governance & Reporting: Contribute to Risk Committee and senior management reporting, including enhancement and standardisation of prudential risk MI.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support wider risk initiatives and transformation projects across the Risk & Compliance Function.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience of prudential risk experience in banking, consulting, or regulation (e.g., PRA).
- Strong working knowledge of UK prudential regulation (PRA Rulebook, UK CRR, PRA SSs).
- Proven experience in ICAAP development or oversight, with a particular focus on Pillar 2A Credit Risk and Pillar 2B.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills – able to explain technical risk concepts to senior and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable providing credible challenge and advice at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational skills; able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Prior experience conducting independent assurance reviews as an external party or within second or third line functions.
- Understanding of PRA/FCA regulatory reporting processes (e.g., COREP, LCR, PRA110).
- Experience in ILAAP oversight and liquidity risk management frameworks.
- Exposure to project management, ideally within regulatory change or transformation programmes.
- Proficiency in Excel and/or SQL for data analysis and model review.
- Familiarity with banking products offered by specialist / growing UK banks, including secured and unsecured retail lending.
