Senior Motion Designer

Location: Chicago, IL – In-Person (3/days week)
Reports to: Creative Director
We're looking for a senior-level motion designer with serious graphic design chops to help push our creative team to the next level. The ideal candidate is a strong visual thinker who can turn a creative brief into top-level animation and design across marketing channels, a true master of the Adobe Creative Suite whose work carries an unmistakable creative voice. This role is best suited to designers who are already operating at a senior level: sharp, fast, and creatively driven, with the confidence to own their work from concept to final render. This is a fast-paced environment with plenty of exciting projects in motion at once, and knowing how to prioritize and deliver is just as valuable as your creative talent.
What You'll Do
- Senior-level motion designer with strong graphic design skills that elevate campaigns across digital marketing and brand channels
- True master of the Adobe Creative Suite, with an unmistakable and consistent creative voice
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects in motion at once, prioritizing and delivering without sacrificing quality
- Translate creative briefs for brand and marketing campaign strategies into polished motion graphics and visual executions from style frames and storyboards through finished animation, for integrated campaigns across digital, social, video, and brand marketing
- Build motion systems with strong typography, transitions, and visual effects within established creative direction
- Own the full production pipeline: asset prep, animation, rendering, optimization, and delivery across multiple formats and aspect ratios
- Collaborate with copywriters, designers, and strategists to keep campaigns consistent and on brand
- Incorporate generative AI tools into creative workflows
- Stay current on emerging design tools and trends and contribute to a culture of feedback and continuous improvement
Who You Are
- Advanced proficiency in After Effects including advanced expressions, scripting, and complex compositing workflow; domain expert in Photoshop and Illustrator, with strong motion design, compositing, image manipulation, and vector design skills
- Proficient in Cinema 4D (or Blender) for 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and virtual camera work, with the ability to composite 3D renders seamlessly into 2D motion pieces
- Expert understanding of animation principles, typography, transitions, visual effects, and building polished motion systems for digital, social, and video campaigns
- Strong foundation in layout, typography, color, composition, branding, and visual storytelling across static and motion creative
- Ability to translate creative briefs and brand strategies into compelling visual concepts, style frames, storyboards, and finished executions
- Comfortable managing complex After Effects projects, asset preparation, rendering, optimization, and delivery across multiple formats and aspect ratios
- 8+ years of professional visual design experience within an agency or in-house creative team
- A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating range, craft, and senior-level motion and graphic design work
- Ability to design across multiple channels and formats, with digital marketing experience a strong plus
- A fast worker who doesn't sacrifice quality, with a strong personal point of view and original creative instincts
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to context-switch between multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Figma for digital design, collaborative workflows working with design systems, and UI-based creative
- Experience using generative AI and AI animation/video tools to concept, generate, modify, and accelerate creative production
- Working knowledge of building and designing animated HTML5 display ads in Google Web Designer or similar software
Discretionary Performance Bonus: 8-12% of base salary based on individual and company performance
Salary Range: $90,000-$135,000
