ABOUT THE ROLE
The State Tax Specialist will be responsible for contacting the state tax agencies on behalf of our clients to negotiation resolutions and advocate for their interests. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a self-starter attitude, creativity developing resolution strategies to tax issues, is a strong team player who loves collaborating with others, and who enjoys working in a fun, fast-paced environment.

HOW YOU'LL BE REWARDED

- Base pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour (full-time, 40 hours per week)
- Monthly Bonus: Average bonus potential of $500 - $1,000
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Contact and negotiate with state tax agencies on behalf of clients to secure favorable resolutions, such as payment plans, penalty abatements, and non-collectible statuses.
- Address compliance issues, handle appeals, and resolve levies, garnishments, or other state collection actions.
- Conduct thorough reviews of client financial information, including adjusted gross income, assets, expenses, and disposable income, to formulate the best resolution strategies.
- Collaborate with clients to gather accurate financial details and tailor solutions to their unique circumstances.
- Review state-specific Power of Attorney forms for accuracy and ensure timely submission to the relevant state agencies.
- Prepare and submit necessary forms and supporting documentation to state tax agencies to substantiate cases.
- Audit case files for completeness and accuracy, maintaining strict adherence to documentation standards.
- Manage a pipeline of cases within the CRM system, ensuring all cases progress according to company workflows and timelines.
- Enter detailed, accurate notes into the CRM system to ensure all case information is current and well-documented.
- Update case statuses to appropriate stages in alignment with established workflows.
- Monitor case progress, ensuring timely actions and clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Develop creative and effective solutions for complex tax resolution cases.
- Work independently and collaboratively to meet and exceed performance goals.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:
- Licensure: Active CTEC (California Tax Education Council) certification and Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).
- Some familiarity of tax standards, tax resolution programs, and financial documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple cases and personal pipelines.
- Proficiency in tax software, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM tools.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Excel, Google Gmail, Calendly and internal communication software.
