Position Overview:

An MBA intern at the PLL would work across strategy, operations, and business development, tackling high-impact projects that drive league growth. Responsibilities could include:

1. Strategic Growth & Business Development

  • Research and develop expansion opportunities (e.g., international markets, new event formats, youth initiatives).
  • Analyze potential partnerships, M&A, or investment opportunities (e.g., acquiring youth tournaments or club programs).
  • Assist in building financial models for new revenue streams (media rights, sponsorships, licensing, or fan engagement).

2. Media & Commercial Strategy

  • Conduct audience analytics to optimize fan engagement and growth strategies.
  • Work with the sponsorship team to develop brand partnerships that align with PLL’s core audience.

3. League Operations & Event Optimization

  • Analyze venue selection & scheduling efficiencies to improve game-day operations.
  • Support ticketing strategy & pricing models to maximize attendance and revenue.
  • Help optimize team operations, travel logistics, and game-day experience.

4. Fan & Player Growth Initiatives

  • Develop and refine strategies for youth engagement, grassroots programs, and WLL expansion.
  • Assist in player marketing efforts to build stars within the league.
  • Identify ways to improve merchandising & direct-to-consumer sales based on fan behavior data.

5. Cross-League Expansion & Future Planning

  • Explore synergies with other emerging sports leagues (e.g., UFL, NLL, international lacrosse).
  • Research best practices in sports business innovation (e.g., AI, sports betting, interactive fan experiences).
  • Assist leadership with special projects & C-suite decision-making support.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong analytical skills (financial modeling, data-driven decision-making).
  • Experience or deep interest in sports business, media, and fan engagement.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passion for lacrosse and growing the sport at all levels.

This role is a high-visibility, hands-on internship that allows an MBA candidate to touch all aspects of league operations while working directly with senior leadership.

Expected weekly base salary: $1,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits that may be offered in connection with the advertised role.
