Chinese-Language Analyst, Due Diligence & Investigations

Position Summary

TDI — the strategic advisory and risk intelligence firm—is currently looking for a Chinese-Language Analyst to join our Due Diligence and Investigations (DD&I) practice in our Washington, D.C. office. The DD&I practice is responsible for conducting sophisticated open-source and human intelligence investigations that directly inform our client’s most critical business decisions and help them mitigate, manage, or exploit risk by providing the best intelligence available. This is an ideal role for a candidate with 1-3 years of work experience with a demonstrated background or interest in international affairs, investigations, and experience in a consulting or similarly fast-paced professional services environment.  

The successful candidate is expected to comprehend complex global issues in various industries quickly while conducting detailed investigative research and analysis to identify and understand commercial, regulatory, and reputational risks. The candidate is also expected to be proficient in Chinese and have professional or academic experience related to China, Taiwan, or East Asia. An essential member of the DD&I practice, the Chinese-Language Analyst will primarily be responsible for:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed research on entities and/or individuals of interest, particularly in China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
  • Understand specific client requests and produce custom risk-analytic reports.
  • Task and manage external sources as required.
  • Review open source or records-based due diligence reports to ensure client readiness.
  • Mentor and train junior research staff members as needed.
  • Process and store sensitive information, including PII, in accordance with Information Management System policies. Promptly report potential security incidents to the Information Technology team.

Required Skills and Knowledge 

  • Excellent English-language writing, research, and analytical skills, including the ability to quickly and concisely summarize complex issues.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Client focus and service mentality.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with exceptional reading, writing, and analytical skills; candidates will be asked to complete a diagnostic test to this effect.
  • Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional proficiency in Chinese.

Required Experience 

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience (including internships), specifically researching and analyzing risk issues. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in international relations, political science, regional studies, criminal justice, business, or related area of study.
  • Professional fluency in English required.

Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, such as knowledge, skills, attributes, experience, training, licensure, certifications, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.

Compensation: $55,000 – $63,000
