Strategist, Direct Response Marketing

Remote - based anywhere within USA

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Strategist, Direct Response Marketing to join TR's Brand & Communications team! The Strategist, Direct Response Marketing will develop and execute data-driven strategies to expand TR’s donor engagement and direct response efforts, focusing on acquisition, retention, and engagement. This individual will be responsible for designing and optimizing multi-channel fundraising campaigns across digital, direct mail, email, SMS, and other scalable engagement channels. This role carries a defined fundraising goal and revenue target tied to TR’s overall Advancement strategy. This position will collaborate with Development, Technology, and creative teams to enhance donor experience, implement audience segmentation strategies, and leverage analytics to drive engagement and fundraising outcomes. This individual must be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of direct response marketing, digital engagement, and donor behavior.

Duties:

  • Develop and implement direct response strategies to drive donor acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Design, optimize, and analyze multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including digital, email, direct mail, and SMS.
  • Lead collaboration across Brand & Communications to develop compelling brand-aligned content and donor engagement campaigns.
  • Leverage data-driven insights and audience segmentation to refine messaging, improve conversion rates, and increase donor lifetime value.
  • Partner with the Technology and Development teams to optimize donor journeys, landing pages, and CRM integrations.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track campaign effectiveness and inform future strategies. 
  • Ensure campaigns are designed to achieve established fundraising goals and revenue targets.
  • Conduct A/B testing and audience research to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Support the development of recurring giving programs to enhance donor retention.
  • Ensure all direct response efforts align with TR’s brand, mission, and financial goals.
  • Align direct response strategy with Advancement revenue objectives and fundraising priorities.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to enhance TR’s mass market fundraising efforts.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in direct response marketing, digital fundraising, or integrated brand communications
  • Expertise in multi-channel fundraising strategies, including digital, direct mail, email, and SMS campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in audience segmentation, A/B testing, and performance optimization
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, marketing automation, and digital analytics tools
  • Experience working with creative teams to develop compelling fundraising campaigns
  • Proven experience in meeting or exceeding fundraising goals and revenue targets through direct response campaigns
  • Knowledge of audience engagement, donor behavior and lifecycle marketing strategies
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and cross functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including ability to efficiently create and manipulate Excel data
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive results 

Special Requirements: 

  • This is a full-time; REMOTE position and can be based anywhere within the continental United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule.
  • Travel: Approximately 20% travel for site visits and departmental meetings

Job Type: 

  • Full-time; salary, exempt

Pay Range:  

  • $99,028.80 - $129,975.30 per year

The hiring range reflects where in the range we most likely intend to hire for this role. Additionally, compensation within that range can vary for several reasons including market conditions, cost of living, skills/capabilities, experience, etc.
