Leased Employee, Wildfire Mitigation Training Coordinator (12-Month Assignment)

Hybrid (Remote/In person) - Anywhere in California

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator (Leased Employee) to join our Operations team!

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Wildfire Mitigation Manager and is a hybrid position based out of California. 

Duration: 12 months (with potential to extend based on business needs)

Expected Hours 40 hours per week

Duties:  

  • Provide geographic training and event support primarily across California as well as supplemental support across other geographic areas, including event creation, input, and coordination with the national training team on event hosting and local requirements
  • Work with local teams to build training cadence and volunteer capacity for training opportunities across both geographic areas
  • Serve as a local representative for complex national training events, supporting partner management, site identification, logistics, and instructor selection
  • Assist in the design and standardization of the wildfire mitigation capability, supporting distribution of training content to local and branch teams
  • Deliver workshops on wildfire mitigation program fundamentals and unique mission planning processes considerations

Experience and Background:  

  • 1-4 years of relevant professional experience in military, wildfire mitigation, disaster response, emergency management, or first responder fields
  • Personnel management/training experience, including recruiting, managing, and developing volunteers
  • Successful past performance leading or coordinating volunteers highly desired
  • Familiarity with wildfire mitigation concepts, tactics, tools, and best practices
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills; comfortable delivering workshops to varied audiences
  • Project management experience

Special Requirements:   

  • Comfortable learning and teaching a structured assessment methodology (e.g., Home Ignition Zone assessments) to volunteer audiences
  • Familiarity with the California wildfire mitigation community, public/private/nonprofit partners, across both Northern and Southern California
  • Comfortable with frequent travel between Northern and Southern California and to national training events
  • Understanding of California's scoping and training requirements for commercial wildfire mitigation work

Job Tier:   

  • Leased Employee; Hourly; non-exempt

Pay Range:  

  • $28.00 to $30.00 per hour (non-exempt)
