ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team supporting major transportation infrastructure work in the Hudson Valley region. This role offers the opportunity to be directly involved in the construction oversight of impactful roadway and infrastructure improvements that support safe and reliable transportation networks.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive in the field, and passionate about ensuring construction quality and compliance. You will work closely with project engineers, contractors, and field staff to monitor work activities, verify adherence to plans and specifications, and help deliver projects that meet the highest safety and quality standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform daily field inspections of roadway, structural, and transportation infrastructure construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable standards
- Monitor contractor operations, materials, and workmanship to verify quality and adherence to project requirements
- Document construction activities through detailed daily reports, field measurements, and photographic records
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project staff to address field issues and maintain project progress
- Verify quantities of installed materials and completed work for payment purposes
- Observe testing of materials and construction processes to ensure compliance with project specifications
- Participate in field meetings and communicate construction progress, issues, and resolutions to project leadership
- Maintain accurate records of labor, equipment, materials, and site conditions
- Support a safe job site by monitoring contractor adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
- NICET Level II or III Certification or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation or roadway infrastructure projects
- Experience working on projects within NYSDOT Region 8 strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of roadway construction practices, materials, and inspection procedures
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience preparing daily reports, quantity calculations, and field documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with contractors, engineers, and project teams
- Proficiency with common construction documentation tools and field reporting systems
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Hudson Valley region

The expected salary range for this role in the New York Area is $45 - $65 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
