ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is assembling seeking a Design Manager to lead and manage engineering design efforts across a range of projects. This role will focus on overseeing the design process, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality technical deliverables from concept through completion. The Design Manager will serve as a key liaison between internal teams and clients, supporting project pursuits, managing design schedules, and ensuring that projects meet technical, regulatory, and client requirements.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with leadership, communication, and project management skills to successfully guide design teams and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage and oversee engineering design projects from concept through final delivery, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget alignment.
- Lead coordination of multidisciplinary design teams including engineers, architects, consultants, and technical specialists.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during the design phase, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication of project goals and expectations.
- Guide the development of engineering designs, technical documents, and specifications while providing oversight and direction to design staff.
- Lead design reviews, technical coordination meetings, and project planning discussions.
- Identify project risks, technical challenges, and constructability considerations, and work with teams to develop effective solutions.
- Support business development initiatives, including leading or contributing to design pursuits, proposal development, and technical presentations.
- Collaborate with project management teams to align design deliverables with project schedules, budgets, and contract requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and design staff to support professional development and team growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Industrial, or related discipline).
- 7 – 10+ years of relevant design experience (level may vary depending on seniority).
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar depending on discipline).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is required.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $200,000 - $250,000 per year. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
