ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is hiring a Senior Inspector to support major transportation and infrastructure construction efforts across the Hudson Valley region. This role is focused on overseeing field activities on complex roadway, bridge, and civil improvement projects within active urban and suburban environments.
You will act as a senior presence in the field, ensuring construction activities are executed in alignment with contract documents, safety requirements, and quality standards. This position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project teams.
This is an opportunity for an experienced inspector who can operate independently, lead field coordination efforts, and help maintain consistency, accuracy, and accountability across all phases of construction.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Oversee daily inspection operations across active construction sites, ensuring work aligns with project requirements and industry standards
- Monitor contractor activities, including materials, installation methods, and sequencing of work
- Prepare and maintain detailed daily reports documenting labor, equipment, quantities, and site conditions
- Track installed quantities and support payment verification processes
- Coordinate with field and office teams to address issues, RFIs, and ongoing construction activities
- Identify non-conforming work and support resolution through proper documentation and follow-up
- Support job site safety by monitoring conditions and reinforcing compliance with safety protocols
- Provide direction and oversight to junior inspectors to ensure consistency in reporting and field practices
- Participate in project meetings and provide field-based insights to support progress and decision-making
QUALIFICATIONS
- NICET Level II or III Certification or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 8+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation or infrastructure projects
- Experience working on New York State Department of Transportation projects, specifically within Region 8, strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of NYSDOT specifications, standards, and documentation practices
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification strongly preferred
- Experience with roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic control scopes
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents accurately
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across contractors, engineers, and stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed

The expected salary range for this role in the New York Area is $50 - $75 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
