ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to support a high profile, large scale infrastructure program with a strong public presence across both New York and New Jersey. This role sits at the intersection of construction, community engagement, and public communication, helping ensure transparency and positive relationships throughout the lifecycle of a major regional initiative.
You will serve as a key point of contact between the project team and the surrounding communities, supporting outreach efforts that inform, educate, and engage the public. This includes staffing Community Engagement Centers, coordinating events and programming, and helping translate complex project information into clear, accessible messaging.
This role is ideal for someone who is personable, adaptable, and comfortable working directly with the public in dynamic environments, while also supporting structured outreach strategies tied to large scale infrastructure work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Staff Community Engagement Centers in both New York City and New Jersey, serving as a welcoming and informative presence for visitors and community members

Support the planning and execution of outreach programming, including community events, workshops, and informational sessions

Assist in developing and delivering educational presentations for students across elementary, middle, and high school levels

Coordinate and support site tours for community members, stakeholders, and educational groups

Act as a liaison between the project team and the public, responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and helping resolve community issues in a timely and professional manner

Prepare and update outreach materials including presentations, flyers, and other communication collateral

Track and document community feedback, interactions, and outreach activities to support reporting and continuous improvement

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with project developments

Support broader stakeholder engagement efforts and contribute to maintaining a positive public presence across the program

Travel between New York and New Jersey as needed to support outreach activities and staffing needs
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, or a related field

3+ years of experience in community outreach, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or a similar role

Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, or public sector projects is strongly preferred

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse communities with empathy and cultural awareness

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and accessible messaging

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Ability to work collaboratively across teams while also taking initiative in public facing environments

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities

Experience supporting projects involving major transportation agencies such as the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, New Jersey Transit, or similar entities is highly preferred

Willingness and ability to travel regularly between New York and New Jersey

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan is $30 - $45 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
