Valuation & Investment Data Analyst

Techstars is looking for a part-time data driven finance professional to jump in and get their hands dirty in all aspects of investment valuation and data analysis for Techstars’ portfolio companies and venture funds. This is a great opportunity to join a fast-growing global organization and make an immediate impact in the start-up ecosystem. The Valuation & Investment Data Analyst will be responsible for various tasks and activities supporting Techstars’ venture capital funds, internal investment vehicles and global accelerator programs. This person must thrive under tight deadlines, while continually considering ways to automate and improve current processes and procedures. This position will report to the Head of Data & Valuations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure new portfolio company investments, deal terms and ownership data is processed accurately and timely into our investment database (Salesforce).
  • Review, interpret and process various types of financing and M&A activity to ensure data is accurately captured in our systems.
  • Collaborate with other groups within the finance team to ensure data between accounting and cap table management systems are reconciled.
  • Assist with maintaining track record and investment performance data to support fundraising.
  • Perform financial analysis by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and explaining large data sets with the ability to clearly communicate findings.
  • Assist with preparing complex valuation models using various methodologies.
  • Assist with preparing materials in advance of quarterly valuation meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Economics 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills required with financing modeling experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze large datasets
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to see and understand the bigger picture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills with capacity to learn quickly
  • Ability to multitask, problem solve and take complete ownership of work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong work ethic and initiative with a very positive attitude
  • Exposure to Salesforce and/or Carta preferred
  • Working knowledge of venture capital terminology preferred

Compensation range: $25-$28/hr. This is a part-time role.
