Sr Frontend Engineer

Tecovas is looking for a Sr Frontend Engineer to help shape the next growth phase of Tecovas’ online business. As the Sr Frontend Engineer, you will contribute with a growth hacking mindset and build web applications and digital products for increased performance. Reporting to the Lead Frontend Engineer, you will make key tech stack decisions that will impact the next 3-5 years of Tecovas’ growth and be responsible for end-to-end deployment of systems and tools powering the customer experience.

This position is based out of Austin, TX with a minimum of 3 days per week in office. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you’ll do:

  • Work in a cross-functional team together with a product manager, software engineers, digital designer, and data specialists to build new digital products and meet ambitious targets.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, performance, and scalability
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code to ensure that it does the job both in terms of functionality and usability
  • Research optimal solutions and find the best way to implement UI/UX designs
  • Trailblaze with the latest technologies from Shopify and Sanity and solve problems that have not yet been solved before (Including leveraging Hydrogen and Oxygen)
  • Steer technical innovation and advocate for frontend development best practices and application architecture
  • Work closely in a cross-functional team to create great team culture and user experiences
  • Build, support, and maintain systems that are directly related to the frontend features (including content management systems, customized features, and in-house APIs)
  • Humbly accept criticism from other team members as they review your work
  • Develop processes and tools that aid in testing the website to ensure compliance with standards and allow for faster delivery

Experience we’re looking for:

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficient in Typescript for building robust and type-safe applications.
    • Hands-on experience with Remix for developing web applications.
    • In-depth knowledge of Server Side Rendering (SSR) to optimize initial page loads and SEO.
    • Familiarity with Testing methodologies and tools like Jest, React Testing Library, etc.
    • Understand and implement Analytic Best Practices for user feedback and application performance.
    • Strong expertise in Caching/CDN Performance optimization to improve website speed and resilience.
    • Deep understanding of modern CSS techniques, methodologies, and best practices. Familiarity with Tailwind CSS is a significant plus.
  • DevOps and Workflow:
    • Experience setting up, configuring, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions.
    • Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.
  • End-to-End Product Development:
    • Demonstrated experience in taking features from ideation to production ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders:
    • Designers: to ensure the UI/UX aligns with the design vision and is feasible to implement.
    • Product Owners: to comprehend the feature requirements and provide feedback.
    • Engineers: to ensure a smooth development process, code review, and integration.
    • Ability to interpret and provide feedback on wireframes, mockups, and user stories.
  • Web Accessibility:
    • In-depth understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and the ability to implement them in the codebase.
    • Experience using tools to test and validate web accessibility compliance.
  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking:
    • Ability to debug complex issues in the frontend stack.
    • Understand performance bottlenecks and optimize the frontend for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptability:
    • Willingness to keep up with the latest frontend technologies and best practices.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and emerging technologies.
    • Experienced and comfortable with iterative development environments.
  • Other Desired Qualities:
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • A keen eye for detail, ensuring high-quality code and design implementation.
    • Proactive mindset to anticipate problems and find solutions before they become critical.
    • Experience with responsive design principles and frameworks.
    • Experience with other frontend tools and technologies in the evolving landscape.
