Legal Operations & Corporate Paralegal
Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.
Tecovas is looking for a Legal Operations & Corporate Paralegal to help our growing legal department scale through smart processes, technology, and operational rigor. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal and People Officer, you will be the operational backbone of a small but fast-moving legal team. Your work will be immediately visible and consequential: in your first six months, you’ll map existing processes, identify gaps, and implement meaningful workflow improvements. Within a year, you’ll have measurably elevated the department’s operational maturity and become the person everyone turns to when they want to know how something works or how to do it better.
This role is required to be based in Austin, TX with a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.
What you’ll do:
- Own the full contract lifecycle, from intake and drafting through redlining, execution, and renewal tracking, for a broad range of agreements including NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, vendor contracts, and license agreements.
- Design and implement contract management workflows, templates, and playbooks. Administer the CLM system, drive internal adoption, and serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related requests across the business.
- Build and manage the legal department’s intake and triage process. Develop standard operating procedures, self-service resources, and dashboards that give the team visibility into workload, cycle times, and key metrics. Manage outside counsel relationships, including matter intake, invoice review, and accruals tracking.
- Support corporate governance and entity management, including minute books, board and committee resolutions, entity filings, and compliance deadline tracking. Assist with due diligence, regulatory filings, and other transactional support as needed.
- Own the legal department’s technology stack, evaluating, implementing, and optimizing tools across contract management, e-signature, matter management, and AI-assisted legal platforms. Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools for contract review, document automation, and legal research, and lead their piloting and rollout.
Experience we’re looking for:
- 7+ years of paralegal or legal operations experience, with meaningful exposure to both corporate/commercial legal work and legal operations functions
- Hands-on experience implementing or administering legal technology platforms (CLM, e-signature, matter management, or similar) and a genuine track record of learning and applying new tools, including AI
- Familiarity with AI-assisted legal tools (e.g., GCAi, Ironclad, CoCounsel, or similar)
- Bonus points for experience in a high-growth company, consumer brand, or small in-house legal department, or holding a paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree
What you bring to the table:
- You are a self-starter who takes ownership, thinks in systems, and thrives in a lean, fast-moving team environment
- You have strong project management skills and can build structure where little exists while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- You can communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels, and you’re energized by the opportunity to make a growing legal team run better every day
Full Time Benefits & Perks:
- We offer insurance plans that pay 79-90% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents
- 401(k) match
- Paid Parental Leave
- Flexible PTO policy
- Corporate wellness program
- Competitive salary: $120,000-130,000/annum (commensurate with experience)
- Eligibility to participate in Corporate Bonus Program
- Generous employee discounts!
