Site Merchant

Austin, TX

Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel, and leather goods — and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Site Merchant to own and execute product merchandising, site accuracy, and on-site discovery across Tecovas.com. Reporting directly to the Senior Digital Manager, you will play a central role in bringing new products and campaigns to life on the website — owning product setup, CMS merchandising standards, navigation and filter optimization, and AI browse management, while partnering cross-functionally to ensure every launch is accurate, brand-right, and delivered on time.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What You'll Do

Product Setup & Site Merchandising

  • Own execution of product setup in CMS, including accurate tagging, categorization, attribution, and merchandising placement across PDPs, PLPs, collections, and story pages
  • Lead new product launches by building and updating product pages, collection pages, landing pages, navigation, and other key site placements — ensuring all content is accurate, complete, and brand-right before going live
  • Lead cross-sell and upsell merchandising strategies across PDP and PLP experiences to improve AOV, product discovery, and customer engagement
  • Partner with creative, marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce teams to gather assets, confirm launch requirements, and deliver site experiences on time

Data Integrity & QA

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CMS data integrity, merchandising QA, and attribution accuracy across the site
  • Conduct regular audits of product data, tagging structures, and attributes to ensure alignment across product, marketing, and digital teams
  • Proactively identify and flag inconsistencies or attribution errors to appropriate stakeholders before they impact the customer experience
  • Lead QA for new product launches, collection updates, and navigation changes — ensuring everything is site-ready and error-free at launch

AI Browse & Automation

  • Own day-to-day management of browse and PLP merchandising tools, ensuring the most relevant products surface across browse experiences
  • Identify and recommend automation opportunities that reduce manual effort and improve the efficiency and scalability of product setup workflows
  • Collaborate with internal teams and platform partners to test and implement merchandising improvements

Navigation & Filter Optimization

  • Lead ongoing refinement of site navigation, taxonomy, and product filters to enhance product discovery and browsing efficiency
  • Partner with digital product and creative teams to test improvements to browse experiences and site structure
  • Apply SEO and site merchandising best practices to improve product visibility, content quality, and customer navigation

New Product Development (NPD) Collaboration

  • Participate in the New Product Development process to represent site merchandising needs and best practices
  • Provide recommendations to product, copy, and creative teams on product naming conventions, categorization, and content readiness ahead of launch

Experience We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in e-commerce, site merchandising, digital merchandising, or a related role
  • Hands-on experience managing product content and site updates in an e-commerce platform — Shopify, Shopify Plus, Sanity CMS, or similar
  • Demonstrated experience owning product launches and campaign launches end-to-end, including QA and launch readiness
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record of maintaining high accuracy across digital product content and merchandising data
  • Experience with AI-driven merchandising tools, dynamic browse platforms, or automation technologies
  • Comfort using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Heap, Shopify Analytics, or similar platforms to evaluate performance and identify opportunities
  • Familiarity with SEO, site search, filtering, product taxonomy, and digital content strategy
  • Bonus points for experience in apparel, footwear, accessories, or consumer retail

What You Bring to the Table

  • You are highly detail-oriented and take pride in delivering accurate, polished, customer-ready work — every time
  • You have strong ownership and follow-through, and can manage multiple launches, timelines, and priorities simultaneously
  • You are a proactive problem solver who raises risks early, communicates clearly, and brings solutions rather than just problems
  • You are collaborative and build strong working relationships with creative, marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce partners
  • You are curious about customer behavior and excited to use data to improve the shopping experience
  • You care about brand storytelling and creating a welcoming, easy-to-shop experience for every customer
  • You are comfortable working within a team structure, partnering closely with a Senior Site Merchant and taking direction while also bringing your own expertise and initiative

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate, complete, and consistently merchandised product data across the site
  • Efficient, scalable CMS processes that reduce manual effort and minimize errors
  • Improved product discovery through optimized navigation, filters, and AI browse management
  • Strong, proactive cross-functional communication that keeps launches on track and issues surfaced early
  • A customer experience that is easy to navigate, brand-right, and conversion-focused

Full-Time Benefits & Perks

  • We offer insurance plans that pay 79-90% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents
    401(k) match
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Corporate wellness program
  • Competitive salary: $70,000-80,000/annum (commensurate with experience)
  • Eligibility to participate in Corporate Bonus Program
  • Generous employee discounts!

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
