Store Assortment Planner

Austin, TX

Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Store Assortment Planner to help get the right assortment into every one of our stores. This role is part of our Planning & Allocation team, built to give each store an assortment that fits its space, its customer, and its potential. You'll build and execute store-level assortments across the entire line, from pre-season capacity and choice count planning through in-season reviews and adjustments, and bring recommendations backed by data to the team. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Allocation, you'll partner closely with Merchandise Planning, Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, and Retail Operations, to grow the function as it expands from store assortments today to department and class planning at the store level tomorrow.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you’ll do:

Pre-Season Store Assortment Planning

  • Build and maintain store-level assortment plans for the entire line, including boots, apparel, and accessories
  • Prepare pre-season store capacity plans that translate fixtures and square footage into the right number of choices for each store
  • Recommend choice count (CC) targets and door counts each season, including the stores we plan to open, and execute assortments against the approved plan

Door & Format Planning

  • Recommend the store groups and clusters to develop each season, and prepare clear handoffs to partners ahead of the season
  • Build and execute assortments for our small-concept stores (under 2,500 sq ft), making a tighter footprint feel just as complete
  • Support assortment planning for our shop-in-shop (SIS) partner locations, executing door-level plans and recommending adjustments

In-Season Assortment Management

  • Monitor assortments door by door through the season, recommending and executing adjustments as performance, inventory, and store feedback evolve
  • Turn assortment decisions from NPD checks, NSO reviews, and store checks into accurate updates in Invent.ai, our allocation and replenishment platform

Space, Floor & Store Partnership

  • Partner with Visual Merchandising on space and floor planning so product placement and assortment decisions work together
  • Conduct store reviews, including New Store Opening (NSO) reviews about 45 days after opening and an annual review of select stores, and recommend assortment changes based on what you find
  • Conduct regular store checks to see how assortments are landing in practice, and bring field feedback back into the plan

Experience we’re looking for:

  • 2-4 years of experience in Retail Planning, Assortment Planning, Allocation, or Merchandising; exposure to store-level or multi-door planning is a plus
  • Retail experience; time spent working in stores or partnering with the field is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Merchandising, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills in Excel and AI tools
  • Familiarity with capacity planning, store clustering, and productivity metrics
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally and presenting recommendations to stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple timelines and recurring processes at once
  • Clear and effective communication skills, written and verbal

What you bring to the table:

  • A strategic mindset paired with a love for the details: you can see how the fleet fits together and still check a single store's fixture count
  • Patience and perspective. Assortment decisions take time to read, and you know how to let results develop before reacting
  • A growth-oriented mentality: you ask questions, seek feedback, and are excited to help build a new function and grow with it
  • A collaborative spirit. You enjoy working cross-functionally, value perspectives from the merchants and the field, and know that clear is kind

Full Time Benefits & Perks:

  • We offer insurance plans that pay 79-90% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents
  • 401(k) match
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Corporate wellness program
  • Competitive salary - $80,000-90,000/annum (commensurate with experience)
  • Eligibility to participate in Corporate Bonus Program
  • Generous employee discounts!
