RadiOhio, Inc., a TEGNA-owned sports radio property in Columbus, OH has a rare opportunity for an Account Executive to join our Sales Team!  As an Account Executive, you’ll represent one of the top-rated sports radio stations in America at 97.1 The Fan WBNS-FM, along with our complimentary stations ESPN Columbus, The Fan 3, and our statewide Network – Ohio News Network Radio. 

WBNS Radio is the flagship home of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus Blue Jackets, and a Cleveland Browns affiliate. Create and develop marketing campaigns for local businesses to drive revenue and growth by utilizing Sports Radio, Events, Play-by-Play Sales, Sponsorships, Streaming Audio/Podcasts, OTT, and digital assets in the booming Columbus, OH market.

Our ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial spirit, sense of urgency and passion for working alongside clients while meeting established internal revenue goals.  Sports Media, and Digital Sales experience is a plus.

What You Will Do:

  • Create a strategic business plan with sales management to meet and exceed all revenue goals and targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Develop advertising solutions for new customers through our sports media and digital products.
  • Create revenue opportunities with our sports sponsorships, endorsements, events, and gameday activations.
  • Consistently prospect for new revenue opportunities with new or existing clients.
  • Explain the benefits of Digital Advertising (Display, OTT, Streaming) and its integration with Sports and Network Radio, in tandem with digital personnel.
  • Learn to ask business questions that will help you build a winning advertising campaign and become the marketing expert for your clients.
  • Create custom solutions-driven campaigns that meet client needs across multiple media platforms including broadcast, digital and Streaming (OTT)
  • Establish strong relationships with internal team members by providing the account management team with clear and concise direction for successful execution of campaigns
  • Represent our WBNS Radio properties and TEGNA to the community at events and surrounding businesses.

What You Need:

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of account engagement in a professional, fast-paced media sales environment
  • Proven track record of success as a seller
  • A strong passion for CONNECTING and PROSPECTING with new potential and existing accounts to generate meaningful business conversations and relationships
  • A solutions-based mindset to develop ideas based off a customer’s needs and overall goals
  • A desire and eagerness to learn TEGNA’s top-notch and innovative advertising product suite
  • A determination to succeed and learn from those around you.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organization and time management skills

TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
