KVUE in Austin, Texas, seeks a dynamic, engaging, and enterprising Multi-Skilled Journalist who wants to be in one of the fastest-growing and diverse news markets in the country to join our team. The successful candidate must be deeply committed to local news, be a natural competitor - wanting to break lead stories in the Austin market consistently, and love covering breaking news and weather. In addition, they must be an excellent storyteller and developer of sources and understand the news cycle extends to multiple platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver on-air news reports engagingly and accurately.
- Enterprise compelling content that can lead shows, break news, and drive an audience to watch.
- Develop news sources for general assignments and special areas of interest.
- Need to have or develop skills to shoot, write and edit content for air as a multiskilled journalist.
- Write and post daily on all digital platforms and social media.
- Transmit and present exciting live reports.
- Perform other tasks as required by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- 3-4 years reporting/MSJ experience.
- Austin and Texas knowledge and connections preferred.
- Journalism and/or Mass Communications degree.
- A portfolio with examples of strong breaking, general, and feature news reporting as a multi-skilled journalist.
- Ability to generate creative, engaging, and content-driven live shots.
- Strong social media skills, including an understanding of all social platforms – current and emerging.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
- Proven social and digital content creation ability.
- Knowledge of TBD MARKET a plus
