We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Special Projects Lead to oversee and manage high-impact projects and develop special projects for the company. This role will focus on driving special initiatives and cultivating relationships with special corporate initiatives and projects to align with our company’s objectives. The ideal candidate is a skilled project manager and creative leader with a deep understanding of the media ecosystem, excellent partnership-building skills, and the ability to execute innovative projects that deliver value for both the company and its partners. This role will also oversee key pilots in commerce and weather.
This position can sit at any TEGNA station location.
Responsibilities:
- Special Projects Management: Lead and execute special projects across the company, ensuring all initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. This includes planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the projects from start to finish with not much oversight.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (marketing, sales, community, and content) to ensure successful execution of special projects and sports partnerships. Serve as a liaison between partners and internal stakeholders to integrate partnerships into company initiatives.
- Project Conceptualization: Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to conceptualize innovative special projects that enhance the company’s brand presence, particularly in the sports space. This includes creating unique marketing opportunities, branded content, and co-branded initiatives.
- Performance & Reporting: Track and evaluate the performance of sports partnerships and special projects, providing reports and insights to management. Measure success against KPIs, analyze the impact of initiatives, and recommend improvements where necessary.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sports Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in managing complex special projects, with a proven track record of executing successful initiatives.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including sports organizations and corporate partners.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale projects and delivering on key milestones.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage and close complex partnership deals.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Pay Range
$100,000 - $125,000 USD
