WBNS-AM FM Columbus, 97.1 The Fan, the TEGNA-owned affiliate in Columbus, one of the top sports radio stations in America, is searching for a Digital Content Producer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a vision for what The Fan can and should be in digital and social spaces. This person will have an audience-first approach to produce and distribute content across multiple platforms (YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.). The Fan’s Digital Content Producer is a station leader crafting and executing the stations digital content strategy. This person will also work with content creators in the department to create compelling content.
This includes oversight of 971thefan.com, The Fan App, text/email alerts, push notifications, social media channels, and podcasts.
Responsibilities:
• Understanding of the algorithms of each social media platform
• Produce valuable storytelling experiences using the written word, videos, photos, social media, streaming and interactive elements.
• Manage The Fan website, app, and audio streams by working with station digital vendors.
• Increase content consumption by using search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, as well as strategic web/app management, app notifications and advanced social media skills.
• Broadcast-digital coordination: Work with all radio show hosts, producers and staff workgroups and station departments on multiplatform coverage and other initiatives..
• Use digital and social analytics to inform editorial decisions.
Requirements:
• Degree in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Two years of experience working as a digital producer or digital journalist preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Video and graphic production skills and knowledge.
• Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources while also working well with varied personalities.
• Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong Sports knowledge and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Interest in digital metrics with experience in Google Analytics preferred.
