WOI Local5, the TEGNA station in Des Moines, IA is looking for a dynamic Weekend Sports Anchor/ Multi-Skilled Journalist to join our award-winning team. The Journalist we hire is a creative storyteller who excels in this age of digital journalism. We're looking for someone who loves telling character-driven sports stories and is just as comfortable reporting on news topics as well. Responsibilities:
•    Develop original, enterprise content through social listening and independent sources
•    Write, shoot and edit daily sports/news content for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms
•    Anchor weekend sports coverage and weekdays as needed
•    Write in a captivating and conversational style
•    Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories
•    Deliver on-air sports/news events, under deadline, in an engaging, compelling, and accurate manner
•    Interview subjects and research for facts and credibility
•    Develop sources for sports topics and general assignment stories and special areas of interest
•    Operate news-gathering vehicle to and from various locations
•    Use creative production techniques such as graphics, viewer pictures, virtual interviews, etc. to enhance stories
•    Transmit and present exciting live reports with current technology
•    Perform other tasks as required by a manager

Requirements:
•    BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
•    1-3 years of experience preferred
•    Bilingual (English & Spanish) speaking a plus
•    Experience in photojournalism, editing, and digital content management systems
•    Understanding the tenants of professional journalism
•    A reel with Sports storytelling and breaking news coverage required
•    Ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
•    Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
•    Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, Avid and/or Adobe Premiere editing software a plus
•    Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant deadlines
•    Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
•    Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
•    Flexible with availability to work different shifts including weekends
•    Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
•    Work Environment Set: Outdoors: performed in various outdoor environmental conditions
•    Physical Demands Set: Medium work: Involves standing prolong hours, stooping, bending, lifting/pushing up to 25 lbs.
