WQAD News 8, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate serving the Quad Cities, is seeking a Temporary Broadcast Engineer/Technical Associate to support our live remote coverage of the 2025 John Deere Classic PGA Golf Tournament.

This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to high-impact live broadcasts in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You'll be part of a dedicated engineering and news team bringing world-class sports coverage to viewers across the region. This is a temporary contract role ideal for freelancers, recent graduates in broadcast/media technology, or local tech professionals looking to expand their live event experience.

Responsibilities:
Assist in the setup, support, and teardown of broadcast infrastructure for live remote coverage at the tournament site, including a remote set and remote newsroom.
Deploy and manage ENG, bonded cellular, RF, IP, and other field production technologies.
Ensure the integrity and reliability of video, audio, and network signals throughout the event.
Provide on-site technical support to news crews, photographers, reporters, and production staff.
Assist with live shots, multi-camera field production, and troubleshooting under tight deadlines.
Coordinate with the station’s engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless field-to-station workflows.
Maintain adherence to FCC regulations and safety protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Previous experience in broadcast operations, field production, or technical support.
Working knowledge of field production equipment, IP transport systems, and live signal transmission technologies.
Ability to lift, carry, and install technical equipment and cables.
Comfortable working outdoors and on your feet for extended periods.
Strong problem-solving skills, calm under pressure, and effective communication.
Available for the entire duration of the assignment (June 23–July 7, 2025), including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with live sports coverage or large-scale remote productions.
Familiarity with TVU, Dejero, RTS comms, and NDI workflows.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (LAN, VLAN, IP addressing).
